Creating things has always been an interest of mine. I’ve been doing various arts and crafts since I was very young and counted cross-stitch is one of my main crafts. I made the usual wall hangings and hanging planters, but I also made chokers and bracelets with unique and colorful beads.

One day, I was laid off from my job and found I had a lot more time on my hands. I started experimenting with beaded jewelry, but I wanted to make something different. I made a beaded lanyard from brown tigereye and hummingbird beads and gave it to a friend. When she wore it to work, she got lots of compliments and inquiries about it. With encouragement from her and my best friend, I made more lanyards, and that is how UsefulCreations was started.

I wanted to make something that was useful and attractive at the same time. I also wanted to make something that was as attractive to men as it was to women. So, my designs range from being very feminine, sparkly, and colorful to being masculine and neutral in color. Who says the lanyard that you carry your badge on has to be boring, or lack style. Lanyards are worn for many reasons, so why not have one that is nicer looking than the cloth or metal beaded chains. My lanyards are suitable for both business and casual attire.
